Thursday July 27th

Hey all,

Tonight is my last night in Onagawa.

The day was spent observing operations in Kuriya-san’s store, in an effort to provide recommendations for his expansion and also to increase the success of his sole store and eventual furture store in another town in Japan.

Takashi and I also spent time just fooling around enjoying our last full day in town, and Preparing for a presentation on our observations through the week tomorrow (Friday).

Without a doubt this town has a lot of opportunity for tourism. But not just domestic, but many international travelers would appreciate a break from the hectic sightseeing plan and spend a little time relaxing. As Japan has a lot of young travelers who come for extended period of time, this will be a very attractive option. Particularly as a lot of these travelers are young and travelling on a small budget, the cozy accommodations and high quality but affordable food is right up our alley.

In terms of long term sustainable development, I think the town is very much on its way. But without a doubt, the quality of people here and the community feel is something I haven’t experienced in such a long time. I’ve really enjoyed my time here.

Hope you all have a blessed day:)))
